Shibui Texture Sneak Peek: Nehalem

  • Lindsay looks port...
  • ... and starboard.

Those of you who have been following the "sneak peeks" of Shibui Texture on our blog may have noticed a certain lack of something....say, color?....in the presentation of these designs. As the name of the book implies, we focused on the ability of these two yarns-the sumptuous Merino Alpaca and the silky http://www.shibuiknits.com/Yarn/Colorways.php?Yarn=Staccato to articulate seed stitches, cables, ribs, and other defining stitch patterns beautifully.

We also understand that most knitters are genetically programmed with an overload of creativity. We are handing you a coloring book and a box of yarn crayons; paint your own vision on these patterns! As you can see from the photo above, Lindsay is beautiful in Ivory, but imagine this sweater in Camel, Bordeaux....or maybe Artichoke.

On a size 9 needle, this sweater knits up quickly, and is a great way to learn cabling. Construction is simple as well; the front and back are identical, and it's knit from sleeve edge to sleeve edge horizontally.

Now for a bit of Nehalem-ness. Not only is this coastal town located on my favorite bay for pulling crab pots, but it is also the codename for an Intel processor microarchitecture. Please don't ask me what that means, but I do know that "architectural" is a good way to describe the simple geometry of this sweater!
